16,000 submissions: A huge milestone for Alternative Clean Heating
The government’s Alternative Clean Heating consultation closed on 10 February 2026, and the response has been extraordinary.
Since we launched our campaign, in just two months, we have been overwhelmed by the level of support and enthusiasm from oil heated households, technicians and fuel distributors. Together, we have reached a massive milestone: 16,000 submissions delivered to the government, calling for policymakers to back renewable liquid fuels.

Submissions have come from every corner of the UK. From Cornwall and Wales, to the East of England, Northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. This geographic spread sends a clear message: the strength of feeling amongst oil heated households and industry for more practical and affordable low carbon heating solutions spreads far and wide.
We have also seen over one hundred pieces of media coverage in local newspapers across the UK, outlining the work of our campaign.
The impact of your participation is already being felt. We have received feedback from several MPs who noted they have seen the campaign and are acutely aware of the strength of feeling within their constituencies.
From Kehelland to Westminster
One of the most inspiring moments of the campaign came from a group of oil heated households in Kehelland, Cornwall. Setting off in the middle of the night, these residents travelled all the way to Westminster to hand in their consultation responses in person, ensuring their specific rural concerns were front and centre.

We are now working to build on this momentum. Our next goal is to secure a visit to Kehelland from key policymakers, allowing them to see firsthand the benefits of transitioning off-grid homes to renewable liquid fuels.
What happens next?
While the official line from the government is that they will publish the consultation response by the end of the decade, we believe the scale of engagement demands more urgency.
Given the clear mandate provided by 16,000 supporters, we are now urging the government to publish their findings and response much sooner. Homes and businesses off-grid deserve to have some certainty today, not in several years' time.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to make their voice heard. We will be providing further updates as we continue to engage with the government.
Stay tuned for more information on the next steps of our campaign.
