OFT15-108D - Installation, commissioning and servicing of solid fuel burning appliances (domestic space heating)
This course is for technicians who wish to install, commission and service solid fuel appliances such as room heaters, which are not connected to the central heating system. The course covers a variety of areas, including health and safety, regional legislation and requirements, safe electrical isolation, knowledge of solid fuel storage, the combustion process, appliance installation, ventilation, flues (including twin wall flue installation), identifying unsafe situations, and practical servicing and commissioning.

Assessment Information
Assessment is via multiple choice theory papers, practically assessed worksheets (PAWS), and practical hands-on assessment.
Pre-requisites
Applicants must hold a nationally recognised qualification in a trade associated with solid fuel work.
Or
Have relevant qualifications, skills and experience gained from working in a related trade such as Chimney Sweeping/Plumbing / Heating / Ventilation / Refrigeration / Air-Conditioning / Gas Fitting or servicing.
